Big news! Thanks to one of our brilliant librarian members (of the several that are in the group), we now have a fabulous link to all the books we've ever read. When we first started the blog a couple of years ago (my, how time flies), we included a list of the books we'd read up to that point, but now it's buried way down the page in the archives. Now, prominently placed on at the top of the blog page on the left side is a link to Library Thing. Just click on it and you will be taken to this incredible new site for bibliophiles that let's you catalog all of your books in a variety of ways. You can see why this appeals to librarians so much!
This site is addictive. I've added all of the books we've read over the last ten years -- 126 and still going strong. I even figured out how to include the date when we read each book. Since I didn't keep track of exact dates, only the month and year, but I had to include a day in the date field, every book is listed as the first day of the month. Now I'm in the process of adding "tags", which are sort of like key words, but you can customize them to be more personal and informative about a particular book. I'm also going to add a rating for each book, but they will be based on my own opinions, not that of the group. I know that sounds a little scary, since y'all know how "vocal" I've gotten about some of the books, but I'm going to try to be objective. This is a public website after all! Then eventually, because it's such a great way to wile away many an afternoon, I'm going to write reviews of the books. I see this as being a combination of New York Times-like literacy criticism mixed with my own opinions (again) and bit of discussion that emerged during the group, although I will definitely have problems remembering 10 years worth of meetings.
Well, enough said. Click on the icon and check it out for yourself. I hate to sound like an ad rep for the site, but you'll love it. And I'm open to suggestions about how to make our Zodiac Book Group archive even more fun and interesting, so I await your feedback.
