September book....The Namesake

I'm not posting about the discussion of this book by Jhumpa Lahiri, since I couldn't be there---but, I did read the book and I enjoyed it. It tells the story of an Indian couple living in Massachusetts and their two children, both born in the U.S. The parents will always miss India, and the children are torn between the home they know in America, and their connection to their parents' home and culture. I actually found this thread of Gogol and his sister trying to break away from their parents' world and then making peace in various ways much more interesting than the actual title theme of the namesake. I think because we all have to go through the same process as we grow up, perhaps in a more subtle, but similar way...
